2012 Trek Superfly 100 AL Pro Full Suspension 29er This year sees a new name and a new style for what was the Trek HiFi. Now known as the Superfly 100 AL and with a bold new look to go with the new name, the Superfly 100 AL Pro screams loud and clear where it has come from. With the exact same geometry, custom tuned suspension and of course the same G2 advantages of the carbon Superfly 100, the Superfly 100 AL Pro will have you lapping faster than ever before. While coming down in price for this season, the Superfly 100 AL Pro features some substantial improvements to keep its title as one of the best handling 29er bikes on the market. The latest 142x12mm ABP thru-axle takes rear frame stiffness to a whole new level, improving the rear wheels ability to track the terrain and matches the front QR15 thru-axle nicely. Other features that serve to keep the SF100 laterally stiff include an E2 Tapered head tube, pressfit bottom bracket and a neat little Flow Mold carbon swing link, which all contribute to the frames solid and responsive feel. Making the most of the ABP suspension design is a custom valved Fox Float RP23 Boost Valve rear shock that is tuned by Trek's Suspension Centre in California, providing the ideal damping settings for the SF100's leverage ratio. Trek go a long way to ensure that the suspension on their duallies provides a neutral feel that works without you really noticing it, striking a balance between pedal efficiency, small bump absorption, stable damping and braking input. The result on the SF100 is a taut suspension feel that gives way on medium and large impacts, letting the big wheels handle smaller trail chatter and allowing the rider to maintain more momentum over rougher trails. For going fast on XC trails all day, it is the perfect companion. This XC dream is stacked with a bunch of components that won't have you heading over to the upgrades queue any time soon as Trek have decked out the Pro model with a smart selection of race-ready components that still allow this bike to come in under the magic $4k mark. The direct mount front derailluer with XT cranks means front shifting is snappy and reliable while the 3x10 drive-train will suit most people with an extremely wide, usable, and consistant gear ratios. One area that the Superfly 100 platform particularly shines is technical climbing, and the 24t chainring and wide-range cassette will allow you to winch your way up the steepest and loosest trails while your 26" buddies jump off and walk. And for those of you who are puncture prone, or like the added advantage of less rolling resistance that a tubeless systems brings, the Bontrager Race Lite wheels are TLR compatible. The Superfly 100 AL Pro is race-ready out of the box, the only question is...are you ready to go fast?
